after I posed the question to the TAs, "what do you want? what did we miss?" etc., I of course started thinking about my own possible answers even more. I have been thinking about this in terms of "how do I know if I am on the right track?" and that has lead me to think about some key questions to ask myself. These are questions all teachers might need to ask themselves regularly. 1. Am I

I haven't read They Poured Fire On Us From the Skyyet, but I see that it is getting understandably rave reviews.

From the health care journal Permanente.

They Poured Fire is reviewed along with 2 other relevant books in the New York Review of Books.
I heard about Eric Reeves and his research on the Dafur region of the Southern Sudan on NPR: a model for engaged scholarship!
Joseph's personal story, his reflections on Dr. John Garang, and a story about Dr. Garang, have all been published in World Magazine.
This website looks like a good place to follow news from the Sudan.
Coming of Lost boys of sudan to America benefited us in many positive ways, specially, respect of humanity and word of God which we need to share with others. we have experiences to share with world and animimists in southern sudan. But unfortunately, there is no christains media in Sudan to preach the world of God to christains.
southern sudan is in confusion politically. The dead of long time ago Iowa state University student Dr. John Garang is a big blow. No media to calm people down as they fight from street to street in Sudan big cities.

we need radio and how can we afford it? your comments are welcome.

Who will pay our loans in American colleges after Garang death?

There is no word to describe my feelings when I learned the dead of John Garang, while at work. I told my supervisor that I have bad news which makes me unable to work, and she let me go. I was not able to drive home. I had to park my car after short drive with tears filled my eyes, because I suspected there were chances of making an accident. I had to call for right home. Before I told people I met what I had found in internet I make sure somebody had to bring my car from the place I left it.

The people I shocked with news cried too. Some of them who were preparing to go work collapsed and postpone going to work. As news were spreading, many southern Sudanese joined us make total of 27 people in two bed room apartment for mourning and prayers for the whole night. We called relatives in Sudan about the situation but was very worse than here. Christians and Muslims are fighting on streets of capital more than thirty people are already dead. Some rebel who were been fighting committed suicide when they heard ! the news saying they do not want to be back to slavery.

The first time John Garang visited lost boys was in Finyido refugees’ camp in Ethiopia in 1988. He addressed 16,000 lost boys that he did not encourage them to join the rebel rather than to go to school. He said he could not be able to make tough decision of liberation if he never went to school. He added that lack of education is darker than the night. Also he said since you managed to escape Sudan and UN is helping you going to school by now take the paper and pen and I will take gun to fight for our right. Lastly, he mentioned Christianity is powerful than important statements he was just said. He said pray before doing anything and God will be with you.

He also said Christianity is our foundation, he encouraged lost boys to take Christian name as their first name before family name which lost boys did.

Dr. John is excellent leader, while he was visiting lost boys huts in Ethiopia he requested us he was hungry he need food. Boys were in disbelief how big leader asked dirty boiled con from boys. He sat on the floor and the maize was given to him and he asked everybody to share with him.

After food finished he asked question, who knows were you get food? Many boys said UN but he denied, he said God work is in different formats from time to time. He fed 5,000 people with five bread and two fish during the work of Jesus but this time is another format of feeding through UN. He do get tie of making jokes with people

While in Ethiopia, SPLA commanders tried to forceful recruit us in the rebel military without the John Garang knowledge. Garang was so sad, he addressed his Commanders that if we eat the seeds where shall get the seed during the rainy season to plant? Meaning, if we use the future generation who fight Muslim in their time. His speeches led some officials into tears.
Garang was an easy-going leader. He attended lost boys meetings in North Carolina and Washington DC. Wherever he talks there are laughers and tears.

There was big promise he made to lost boys this year 2005 after the peace was signed. He said do not worry about taking America financial aid, if you get your degree I will pay loans to college student obtain his degree because our oil will be in the market and that will be your compensation for the long suffering. His promise led many boys joined schools. We remain surprise will the government of Sudan pay our loan after we finish our college degrees in America after Garang dead. Who will pay my NDSU loans if Garang Die?it is rare promises leaders in Africa do.we thought Garang found us again after we lost but now we are lose again.
